Read this first

This should be fun. Discussing music on the internet.

So, let’s make a couple things perfectly clear. I am not, by any stretch, a music snob. That is not to say I gobble up top 40 bullshit, and I don’t drop “classic” band names to prove my music cred. I like what I like, period. Just like you.
Sadly, I have to make these statements. The internet is chock full of very dumb people who get their kicks telling you your taste in music is somehow wrong.

I like most metal (from glam and hair metal – yes, Poison – to Norwegian black metal, to industrial, well, almost anything metal). I like alternative, indie, and well, in short, you know those people who claim to like all kinds of music? Yeah, that’s me. Except, there are a couple of music genres I disregard completely. Reggaeton, for example. I loathe everything that has to do with that particular, um, environment. But for the most part, I can find good music in all genres – classical, pop, rap, hey even country.

“But Iceberg, how can you say you like black metal, and in the same breath claim to like pop and country?”, you ask. “That is not, at all, kvlt and you shall be stripped of your metal cred”. Yeah? Well… that’s just the facts. I’m weird like that. I enjoy different music for different reasons. I enjoy having knowledge of more than one music genre. Sue me.

Having said that, I don’t enjoy every band in every genre. There are, of course, a lot of people making very shitty music everywhere.

In any case, that’s where the controversy exists. You might come up to me and say your favorite band is such and such, and it’ll turn out to be a band I hate. Likewise, I can discuss the merits of some other band, and you’ll think I’m full of shit. Neither you or I are wrong, but we love to believe so.

Whatever the case, I made this blog because I love (and hate) music. It is just for my entertainment, not a tribute to your musical taste. As long as we both understand that, we’ll get along fine. Hey, if your mind is open, you might even discover new music on here. That would be another bonus. Of course, if you have hate mail to send my way, I’m sure I’ll have fun with it.

Whenever I use images such as band photos or album covers, I get them out of GIS. So if I don’t credit you personally, at least accept my heartfelt thanks for making the images available. Same goes for videos.

And well, enough explaining myself.
